the masthead of this magazine shouts out to potential buyers. it does this by having capital, bold letters followed by an exclamation mark. the writing also looks like broken glass to represent the indifferent attitude to life and belongings. it also represents loud music shattering the glass in which too reflects the rock and rolla image, which will atrract the young, budding musicians. located at the end of the masthead is the word 'legends' which is very small to save space, but it is red to contrast the black and white main masthead and is over the top, so it still stands out enough, but uses minimal space to fit more important information on the cover.

the sub-title is written as large as the main masthead because it is on the same subject as the masthead, but more in depth describing who the legends are. it is also in the opposite colours to the masthead with black writing on a white background, so the colours are kept minimalistic to link in with the genre of the magazine. the border of this sub-title has ripped edges which like the masthead links in the with indifferent lifestyle of musicians.

at the bottom of the cover is a memorial of past rock stars to link in the with 'kerrang legends' theme with a kind of time warp background to indicate they're from the past with article insights written to make the potential buyer definately buy it if they are interested in these rock stars.
