this contents page attracts the buyers eye in with an extremely large masthead, which is bold and a very simple font. the main picture links with the masthead which is a long shot of a drummer. there are 5 other pictures which are all relevant to the masthead of musicians who play the drums. another way how the images all link is the effect used on them which is a kind of pixelated effect.

the colour scheme of this contents pageis kept very simple of black, orange and white with most of the background in white, text in black and page numbers and pugs in orange. the images also cleverly link in with this colour scheme if you look closely.

the masthead of this magazine is very small to the left corner. this is used as it saves space and perfectly illustrates the visual heirarchy as it is the first thing you see. it is in capital letters, bold, blood red and it is unusually over the top of the picture to stand out as much as possible.
the sub-title is at the top above the masthead to show that it is a special edition of the magazine and has a rainbow background to the text which is followed all along the border of the magazine to link it all together. the main sub-heading is white on a black background to stand out as it links in with the special edition and what the magazine is about. all of the article headings are in yellow which helps them to stand out but still link into the colour scheme as they are all the same colour.
the main picture is of the late syd barret of pink floyd. all of the writing surrounding him is on top of him to represent being buried (dead), but he is the only picture on the cover to show the importance of him. the picture is very serious and his eyes are looking directly out at the reader so it entises you in.

the masthead of this magazine shouts out to potential buyers. it does this by having capital, bold letters followed by an exclamation mark. the writing also looks like broken glass to represent the indifferent attitude to life and belongings. it also represents loud music shattering the glass in which too reflects the rock and rolla image, which will atrract the young, budding musicians. located at the end of the masthead is the word 'legends' which is very small to save space, but it is red to contrast the black and white main masthead and is over the top, so it still stands out enough, but uses minimal space to fit more important information on the cover.

the sub-title is written as large as the main masthead because it is on the same subject as the masthead, but more in depth describing who the legends are. it is also in the opposite colours to the masthead with black writing on a white background, so the colours are kept minimalistic to link in with the genre of the magazine. the border of this sub-title has ripped edges which like the masthead links in the with indifferent lifestyle of musicians.

at the bottom of the cover is a memorial of past rock stars to link in the with 'kerrang legends' theme with a kind of time warp background to indicate they're from the past with article insights written to make the potential buyer definately buy it if they are interested in these rock stars.
