this magazine cover is of a rock magazine. it is titled 'total guitar' which is a plain white and a simplistic font. this is used because the magazine knows that the title of the magazine is not the most important part of the magazine which is reflected in the way that the main picture of john lennon is over lapping it showing what is the most important part. the word 'total' is smaller than the word ' guitar ' because that is what the magazine is all about and clearly shows the genre of the magazine.

This issue of the magazine is focused on the beatles, with a main picture of john lennon, of course holding a guitar to reflect the title and shows that it was a major part of lennons life and what he loved to do, which is used on the cover to influence and inspire young budding guitarists. the picture is of john lennon playing live but cut out from his background. there is also a smaller picture of the other two guitarists next to john lennon, paul mcartney (bassist) and george harrison (lead) to show the band together. There is also the Beatles drum logo touching all of the band members to show that even though they are not still together that their music will live on. the drum also has numerous flowers underneath to represent the ' flower power ' of the 60's which relates to when the bealtes were in their prime time of music.

The banner and the sub-headings are all the same colour to tie all of the articles together to make it look tidy and organised apart from the heading ' R.I.P. Les Paul' which is white so it stands out and shows the importance of the legendary musician. the other sub-headings are deep red on the more heavier bands to more than likely represent blood and most heavy metal bands want to seem sedistic and this colour choice represents it. most of the tag-line is white to contrast with the red of the sub-heading so it is easy to read so you get into the article and want to buy the magazine so you can find out what happens.

the price is extremely small and hard to see which could of been designed like this as it will probably be the last thing you see so that the potential buyer would have looked at all of the articles and really wants to buy the magazine no matter what the price and coincidently the price of the magazine is rarther expensive. The offers and prizes are the brightest colour of any of the texts to attract you to them and the magazine publishers think this will make you want to buy it because of this.
